Vitalik Buterin believes that other blockchains like Dogecoin and Zcash should follow suit now that the Ethereum merging has been completed.

“I’m hoping Zcash switches over. I also have a lot of faith that Dogecoin will eventually transition to proof of stake,” he continued.

Vitalik said via live chat at the Mainnet conference on Friday, “I expect it to basically rise in legitimacy more and more over time as proof of stake improves.

Earlier this month, Ethereum carried off its eagerly anticipated merge event, switching its primary network’s proof-of-stake (PoS) model from the more energy-intensive proof-of-work (PoW) model.

Buterin spoke with the CEOs of Electric Coin Company and Messari, Ryan Selkis and Zooko Wilcox-O’Hearn, at Mainnet (Electric Coin Company leads Zcash development).

Buterin claimed that despite “some kind of issue” appearing in every test network merge, the crucial event went off without a hitch.

“When you emailed me about your Ethereum idea, I thought, “Holy sh*t. It’s very thrilling. And it won’t ever work,” said Wilcox-O’Hearn. Then, you and the Ethereum demonstrated that I was mistaken. It was a total success.

The PoW privacy coin Zcash is linked to Zooko, who also believed the Ethereum merger will “never work.”

He is now singing a new song, though. With regard to Buterin and the Ethereum developers, Zooko added, “You should be proud of yourselves for the rest of your lives.”
