Tron’s founder and former CEO, Justin Sun, has shared an ambitious goal of having at least five countries adopt TRX as legal tender by the end of this year. Mr Sun shared his vision of crypto adoption through the following tweet that included the flags of Dominica and St. Maarten.

In follow-up Tweets, Mr Sun stated that he was confident that his goal was achievable.

‘This is an ambitious goal, but I am confident that with hard work and dedication, we can make it a reality.’ he said. ‘Together, we can pave the way for the wider acceptance and use of cryptocurrency as legal tender.’

Tron (TRX) is Legal Tender in Dominica, and St. Maarten Could Be Next

In October 2022, the commonwealth of Dominica granted all Tron-based digital assets, including TRX, BTT, JST, NFT, USDD, USDT and TUSD, statutory status as authorised digital currencies and mediums of exchange.

Early-last week, MP Rolando Brison, Leader of the united People’s Party and second vice chairman of St. Maarten’s parliament, initiated a proposal for a law that would designate Tron as the country’s national blockchain infrastructure and TRX as a legal tender.

‘Allowing cryptocurrency to continue totally unregulated in St. Maarten is extremely risky, and we have to be proactive. Hence I use my right of initiative to bring this law with Tron Protocol at the forefront, with possibilities later for other blockchains to be incorporated; this too can be done in line with other countries like St. Kitts, who I know are also working on their own legal tender legislation,’ MP Brison stated.

Justin Sun described St. Maarten’s efforts to adopt TRX as legal tender as ‘another achievement for [Tron’s] push on worldwide blockchain adoption.’
